Welcome to the web site of Colwall Bridge Action Group
Parish
Council Alternative bridge design submitted
Two lane + wide footpath
as
opposed to one lane with
traffic lights and massive (non-cycle) footpath announced with no
consultation by Herefordshire Council in Progress Report 7.
An alternative bridge design from the Parish was submitted
to Herefordshire Council at their request, following a site meeting on
13 June at which Network Rail was also present. Provided the bridge deck is the same width as at present, the alternative
layout won't cost any more, and it won't take any longer to build.
The new bridge should be finished by the end of March 2009.

This
web site is one of the initiatives taken
by a small group of like-minded residents of Colwall, who are concerned
about
the problems associated with Colwall Railway Bridge.
To influence decision makers in any way possible in order to speedily resolve the CRISIS that exists in Colwall caused by the deterioration of the Bridge over the railway
Current situationNetwork Rail has scheduled a new bridge to be open by 31 March 2009 (instead of 2011/12 as originally forecast). Between now and then we shall be focussing on
- Improvements to the chicane route
- Improvements to the diversionary routes
- Ways to support our traders
Keeping Network Rail and Herefordshire Council to timetable is vital.

About the Bridge Action Group
The group is non-elected, and therefore non-representational. Though membership has varied, a core number has been constant over time. As a non-elected group, its activities are not political except in the sense of a commitment to influence decision makers responsible for the Bridge. We have no Party Political bias, nor agenda.
The group is clear about its place within the democratic process, and consistently keeps our locally elected body, the Parish Council, informed of our activities, through the Chair of Colwall Parish Council.
